Teen Read Week- October 17-23
This annual celebration sponsored by the Young Adult Library Services Association, targets teens, their parents, librarians, educators, booksellers, and other interested adults. The goal is to encourage youth to read for pleasure and to visit their libraries.
National Day on Writing- October 20
For the second year, the National Council of Teachers of English are encouraging writers of all ages to submit stories, poems, recipes, emails, videos, and artwork to this online gallery.

I'm glad The Snowy Day is the feature for this year. My students really liked it. Reading snowy in October, though...Sure, it will get them in the mood.

Me too - marking October's events since September isn't possible for me to attend (will be at the SCBWI-Carolinas conference that weekend). There are some smaller events going on between now and the middle of November - (Savannah Children's Book Festival is a great one too - I can't wait to do that one; a new one in Charleston, SC, the week before the Savannah one) - Thanks for reminding me about the National Day on Writing - will try to coordinate something with the 6th grade class on that day.
